Importing & Exporting
You can import and export data into and out of transLucid from within the 'Admin' area. Simply click on the respective 'tabs'.
Importing into transLucid
There are currently two data-formats transLucid accepts with two further planned. These are PersonalBrainTM and transLucid's own format. Support for MindManager and FreeMind is planned and up-coming.
Importing the xml file will replace all of your current transLucid content!
| transLucid format Simply browse and upload the .zip file that you previously exported with transLucid. The summary page will provide you with an overview of the number of notes, files and images it will import. Click 'Proceed to data import' and a message on the next screen should confirm a successful import of your data. As transLucid exports its content in HTML, a conversion from RTF to HTML as for PersonalBrain is not required. |

Use a) PersonalBrain Exporter (free) or b) BrainUtil (paid) to export your .brn file into xml format first. Note:When using PersonalBrain Exporter, you will have to rename the file-ending of the exported file from '.pba' to '.zip'. 1. Structure only Simply a) unzip the .zip file and locate the .xml file when using PB Exporter or b) know the location of the exported .xml file when using BrainUtil. Then upload the XML file. You will receive the summary page, displaying correctly that you do not intend to upload any notes, files and/or images. Click 'Proceed to data import' and a confirmation message should appear. 2. Structure and notes If you would like to import your PersonalBrain thought-structure, including your notes please check a) 'Include Notes' when using PersonalBrain Exporter or b) place all .RTF files in a sub-directory named notes/ beneath the .xml file containing the PB structure. Upload the .zip file. The summary page should list the number of RTF files you are intending to import. No files or images should be present in the .zip file.Click 'Proceed to RTF conversion' and the RTF to HTML conversion progress-window should appear. This can take a while when running your own transLucid site and not using translucidonline.com. You should then see a confirmation message of a successful import. 3. Adding attachments You may now attach the files you previously had in PersonalBrain in transLucid (how-to description) Note: The following is for advanced users only, willing to manually edit files! You may also edit your exported .xml file manually in an editor, making all links to your attachments relative as in 'userdatauserdata/File/[placeholder for your filename]'. Place all attachments in a directory beneath the .xml file called 'file/', then follow the above instructions. The summary page should correctly list the number of files contained in the .zip. |
