Administration of transLucid

The Admin area can be reached via editmode (see this description).
Many settings and preferences can be changed and adopted by the user in transLucid.
These can be found under different 'tabs'.

Activating changes

saving changes Saving modifications in Admin

Clicking the 'Save' stores and activates the changes made. The 'Save' relates to only the active tab, not to all preferences within Admin.

Clicking onto another 'tab' without hitting 'Save' will make transLucid losse all modifications.

User Management

public or restricted Restricted or public edit-mode

With public editing, anybody who visits your website can go into edit-mode (like in a ‘wiki') and change your site.
With restricted editing, choosing edit-mode will call for a user name and password.

You may switch from one to the other by selecting the corresponding radio-buttons.

When choosing restricted mode, a user name and password will have to be provided that will be asked for when a user tries to edit your site.

System settings

changing storage preferences Changing where transLucid stores its content

If you host transLucid yourself, you may change where content is stored.

By answering the question "Do you hav a DB?" with a YES, the fields to input information regarding how to access your database will become editable (see this description under Step 2 for further information). In this state, transLucid will store its content to the MySQL database as well as files (based on the RSS format).

Consequently, answering the question "Do you have a DB?" with a NO, will mask these fields. In this state, transLucid will store its content to files (based on the RSS format).
adding file-type Adding file-types valid for attaching files

You may add additional file-types at any place to the list (see screenshot to the left). Ensure that each file-type resides on its own line. There is no limit on the number of different file-types possible for uploading.

If file-types are separated with any other separation mark (comma, semicolon, ...) it will be treated as one!
changing editor Change graphical (WYSIWYG) editor

The graphical editor can be switched on and off. To work with the HTML source code, instead of the default editor, select "no editor" in the dropdown.

There may be an alternative graphical editor available (how to add FCKEditor, read here under 'Other graphical editors') to select.

Themes customisation

changing default theme
Modifying the default theme

When visitors come to your transLucid site, they will initially view it in the default theme.

You may select a different theme by clicking on the dropdown (see screenshot left).

For an overview of the different layouts available, see this page.
setting site name Setting a different site name

Your site name defines what will be the so-called page title for all transLucid site pages that your visitors will see.

You may set another site name by clicking into the required input field (see screenshot left).
setting site name
Setting your own logo

If you would like your own logo to appear in your transLucid site, you will first have to upload it to your site (with for example FTP) and then point to the path and name.

Note: We will soon provide a mean to upload your logo directly from within Admin and during Install.
setting page order
Automatic ordering options

There are two ways in which pages are sorted by transLucid for visitors, automatic and manual (how to manually sort).

The ordering can be set individually for Pins (=Favorites), Parents, Children and Jumps (=related).

The order can be after the NodeTitle (=PageTitle), NodeID (=PageID) or last-modified.

Language settings

Adding a site language

You may add as many additional languages as you wish to your transLucid site
(how to add content to a new language, see here under "Editing your site content").

add language 1) Choose the language you would like to add from the available dropdown.
add language 2) Give the home-page a name.
add language 3) Decide whether to make the new language and its content viewable by your site visitors.

setting default language
Selecting a different default language

If you are working with multiple languages on your transLucid site, you may change which language will see by default when first visiting your site.

Note: Only languages which have content on all pages will appear in the dropdown! If the language does not appear, it means that there are pages which have no content in it currently.
